“Mural, mural on the wall, which is the fairest of them all?”
Handpainted walls are by first glance the same as any other wallpaper walls. But interior with fresques provides the uniqueness unseen anywhere else. Hiring a muralist can also save a lot of trouble trying to put up wallpaper by hand. But maybe that`s just me!
Murals can be bold feature walls, in offices, restaurants or homes. Like statement pieces in otherwise more neutral surroundings. Or kept low key and muted throughout the interior. This livingroom includes handpainted decorative walls and a special feature mural, all set in black and white, with touches of gold and silver.
Get the look
If you want to make your own pattern on the walls, I used white chalk and traced with white acryllic paint, “stitching” for a whimsical touch on the Paisley pattern. The chalk washes away easily when the paint is dry.

With careful design, monochrome schemes can be just as pleasing to the eye as color. The key is allowing one color to be the dominant partner in proportion to the other. I.e dark walls, light furniture, light walls dark furniture.
Pros and cons of monochrome interior?
Everything and anything will fit right in, from the cat to the remote control..
You will be tempted to bring in a splash of color. The result can be stunning -if you don`t. Turn attention on texture, shine, shape. Fusion Nordic minimalism with Punjabi maximalism. Throw sass around like confetti! Sequined pillows, bring it on! Have fun. Within the specter.

Keep those frames comming! Hallways are always a perfect spot for family photos. Mix and match the sizes .
Sequined pillows by hand.. That was my summer of ‘21! A lot of beach embroidering…! Maybe it even reflected the sun?? So thats why my hands were so tanned?
Brown chromosome
Brown filtered coffee color scheme works as a less dramatic monochrome. A Burberry painted backdrop for the mirror, makes for an inviting feature wall.
O R G A N I Z E
To keep any interior look crisp and clean with or without murals, a key is to organize well. For a study or designers workspace, organize bits and bobs with jars, boxes and kitchen utility racks. I put small beads in spice jars. Use anything you have.
Keepsakes
For goodness sake. Keep them :) They are decorative, collect dust and gives your interior that special character, with the stories they can tell!
And do remember what Hemingway said about being perfect: “We are all broken, that`s how the light gets in.” Your home should not look like a hotelroom that anyone else could live in. It should be private, your familys exclusive sanctuary. Be true to yourself. Be you! In any colorscale.
